Feather me

Good afternoon!

Today, I thought I'd get a little adventurous & try putting a feathers on my nails. I was at my local craft store while going through the isles saw feathers in a package and decided to get ambitious... So this is the look I came up with.

Tutorial:
 1. Prime your nails with your favorite base coat.

2. Choose a base color
(I used China Glaze Bahamian Escape)

3. Apply a clear coat
3.5. Position feather on the nail
(Do this while clear coat is still wet. I recommend doing this one nail at a time)
4. Apply clear coat
(wait til fully dry)

5. With small scissors cut excess feather

6. If theres rough edges lightly file down any tiny ridges

7. Apply top coat

WAH-LAH!

Definitely don't do this in a rush. It is a more time consuming look. I have herd the the feathers specifically made for nail art is a lot easier to manage, when using on the nail so, definitely look into that if you are interested in trying out this look. I'm thinking my next post might be a hair color product review.

Good luck! Let me know how it goes!
Until next time; smile cause it good for the soul! :)

Baby feet nail tutorial

Hey everyone!

ITS A BOY!! I got inspired by the soon arrival of my godson :D

So I wouldn't exactly call this a tutorial like I promised, but I will write out step by step how I designed my nails.

1. Apply your favorite base coat

2. Apply 1 coat of white as a primer/base
(I did this because the polishes I used were very translucent)

3. Gradient effect with green stripe
gradient using a foundation sponge.
I sandwiched mint green in between sky blue
Rock sponge side to side till your happy with the color.

4. Sole of foot
With a dotting tool make a kidney bean shape
I used a medium size & dragged with a smaller dotting tool

5. Toes
With a dotting tool make 5 dots
remember where the big toe is should be a tiny bit bigger

6. Apply favorite top coat

You don't have to use this many colors, I was just very indecisive. :P
Be creative & have fun with it. Let me know what your thoughts are.
Feel free to share your version if you try it.
Good luck!  Until next time smile; its good for the soul :)

Mermaid Tutorial

Hello my darlings!
So today I thought I would share a tutorial with you. I did this nail look for my best friend before she left for Hawaii for school. Down below are the pictures of the colors I used, the process, and the finished look.

LET GET STARTED!!

 What you will need:
1. Your choice of nail polishes
2. Make up foundation sponge

THE COLORS
(left to right)

Zoya - Miley
OPI - Austin-tatious Turquoise
China Glaze - Deviantly Daring
China Glaze - Rodeo Fanatic
Essie - Dive Bar
CM - Ashy Green (thin design brush)

THE PROCESS
(left to right)

1. Apply your favorite base coat. (Nail Tek Foundation II)
2. 2x Coats of your base color (Miley)
3. Start gradient effect (sponge method) - color one (Austin-tatious Turquoise)
4. Sponge method - color two (Deviantly Daring)
5. Sponge method - color three (Rodeo Fanatic)
6. Sponge method (Dive Bar)
7. Draw small scales (Ashy Green)
8. Apply your favorite top coat (China Glaze - No Chip)

FINISHED!!

Tips
  • Let the base color dry a little bit - doesn't have to be completely. This prevents the base color from being picked up by the sponge while sponging the next layer
  • If you don't have a nail pen or nail polish with a design brush; pour out a little bit of nail polish & use a tooth pick.
  • Let scales dry before applying top coat or it will smudge or smear the scaled :(

I know used a lot of colors, my best friend & just couldn't decide :) You are more than welcome to use more or less colors. I listed the colors that I used above but you can use whatever colors you have. Be creative. Good luck!! Let me know how it goes! 'Til then smile cause its good for the soul :)
